Dancing in freedom

How does it feel to be excluded because you dare to express your feelings openly and dare to be yourself? Freedom is the theme of the dance performance Namasté of Dance School Latoja, which will be given on Wednesday 17 September, on the Liberation Day of Valkenswaard, in Theater de Hofnar.

A few years ago, owner Geerten Linsen decided that Liberation Day deserves a tribute and worked on a special performance.

Namasté is a partly autobiographical story about a young and colorful dancer. Everyone likes him until he wants to share his feelings in public through dancing. He is approached by a fellow passer and soon more negative reactions follow. The dancer is eventually canceled, which has major consequences.

At 8 p.m., 81 years of freedom will be considered:

From 2026, Geerten hopes to have the performance return annually in the Hofnar, but then with students from the Weredi school community in the lead: a project that has recently started.
