In his second cabaret show, Jazzebelle, Gavin Reijnders tries above all to stay positive. Although that turns out to be harder than ever, the ‘Ik ga stuk!’ winner has set his heart on one thing: a fun evening full of showbiz and jazz. He is, after all, more of a showgirl than an activist. Jazzebelle is not a fiery manifesto but an ode to nuance in an age that mostly shouts. A musical evening full of fun, with a healthy dose of self-mockery and old-fashioned glamour in an increasingly conservative modern age. Together with jazz composer Nadine Rypkema, he transforms your favourite theatre into a comedy jazz bar. With music he himself describes as ‘somewhere between Hannah Montana and Chet Baker’.
