A comic, musical and psychedelic search for inspiration

After the success of the performance Lorca, about the Spanish poet Federico GarcĂa Lorca, the Poezieboys and poet Joost Oomen now dive into the wonderful world of inspiration. Everyone sometimes has to deal with it, whether you are an accountant, roofer or artist. Sometimes, as it is called so nicely, you get "The Spirit." Artists hang their entire existence on this slippery, misty, non-finger-back-to-get thing. In spirits, the Poezieboys and Joost Oomen go in search of that thing, for that spirit - and they do that in their characteristic crazy and often hilarious playing style, full of cheerful jumps, music and unexpected twists.

What is inspiration? It seems like a boring process. A poet stares out of the window and puts on a bird. But a poet is not always staring out of his window to come to inspiration. How does this work? Where does this come from? And why does it work with one and the other? Is there actually room for something as elusive as inspiration in the current controlled society? What beautiful things arise when we all let go?

Some poets believe that inspiration comes from outside themselves - from Marsmannetjes, spirits or shadows that pass on poetry. It is the poet's task to translate this extraterrestrial language into poetry as well as possible. But if the poet is only a transit hatch, who then bears responsibility for what appears on paper? In spirits, the Poezieboys and Joost Oomen explore these mysterious forces with humor, wonder and a good dose of playing pleasure.
