Sofia (Emma MacKey) and her mother Rose (Fiona Shaw) spend the summer in the coastal town of Almería, where Rose is treated by the charming doctor Gómez for the inexplicable physical complaints that complain to her to a wheelchair. During their stay under the sultry Spanish sun, Sofia is hypnotized by the attraction of the liberal Ingrid (Vicky Krieps). While the temperature rises higher and higher and Sofia is starting to stand stronger in her shoes, the bond between her and her mother is becoming more fragile ... Based on the book of the same name by Deborah Levy, "Hot Milk" investigates the complex dynamics of identity, desire, dependency relationships and the search for liberation. The cast consists of Emma Mackey (Emily, Sex Education), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) and Vicky Krieps (Corsage, Phantom Thread). Hot Milk is the directing debut of Rebecca Lenkiewicz, who previously wrote the scenarios for The Salt Path, Ida, Disobedience and She Said. The film premiered in the competition of the Berlin Film Festival.
