Following the success of the Thank God I’m a Country Boy tour, Jimmy and his band are back with this brand-new show. A Tribute to John Denver takes you on a journey through the life of one of the world’s greatest country singers. Be carried away by moving stories and drift off to the nostalgic music that made John Denver immortal.
And that music is what this show is all about. From little songs to grand compositions: together with his band, Jimmy takes the show and the audience to ›an unprecedented high, the kind you only experience in the Rocky Mountains. Jimmy lets you relive hits such as Perhaps Love, Calypso and Country Roads, but also shines a light on lesser-known work.
Although Jimmy isn’t of Denver’s generation, he understands his music like no one else. ‘My voice may sound like John Denver’s,’ says Jimmy, ‘but you can’t imitate the emotion involved in putting music across – that can only come from within.’ He also stays faithful to the handwritten scores he was given by Denver’s own arranger, Lee Holdridge.
Thirty albums and four decades after his debut, John Denver is still relevant, and the life lessons in his lyrics turn out to be surprisingly timeless. Rocky Mountain High is a grand show with an intimate atmosphere that gives Denver’s legendary music the attention it deserves.
