Alle kinderen stinken ◆ 6+
At the Kattendans, a large part of the youth theater performances are free for children up to 12 years old. More information about this and the conditions can be found here.
TV and the internet are all about sensation and 'juice': fake news, arguments, fights and slander. All means are allowed to attract as many viewers and clickers as possible. But when will the mood change? When does it stop being fun? 'All children stink' is a fantastic, anarchic and interactive performance about sensationalism and thinking for yourself, with a good dose of chaos and humor.
Presenters Marco and Liesbeth are terribly bored in their popular talk show. Every day there is some professor or celebrity who says all kinds of boring things about reliable research. But the ratings are dropping and dropping. Marco and Liesbeth have to come up with something sensational new every time to save their talk show: All children stink! Gradually they become entangled in their own lies and no longer know what is true and what is not. Will they still get out of here?
How do we deal with all that inflated news on TV? Raging reporters manipulate and distort what is actually said. In 'All children stink' the theater audience enters the world of talk shows: a flashy decor, multiple TV screens, funky jingles and a colorful parade of characters. In this orchestrated chaos, everything happens quickly and the audience becomes a participant and complicit.
Patrick Duijtshoff (known from De Theatertroep) and Judith van den Berg (from Best Friends van De zAAk A, winner Zilveren Krekel 2025) made a short version of this performance for the KinderParade in 2022. That was a resounding success that sparked the involvement and indignation of the young audience. “We want to use humor and confusion to challenge children, and actually adults too, to continue to think critically and not blindly follow the crowd.”
The performance is suitable for children from 6 years old.
