Cesar: Het verhaal van een drummer

Jeugdvoorstellingen

'Cesar: The Story of a Drummer' is the name of the extremely successful biography of Cesar Zuiderwijk. This fall, this unique story will come to life in a college tour that the drummer of Golden Earring will do with writer and music journalist Jean-Paul Heck. Heck wrote the book together with Zuiderwijk and it comes to life in an evening with 'spoken word' and a touch of drum violence. This evening, Zuiderwijk and Heck draw you into the book, as it were, and sensitive moments alternate with funny stories and beautiful anecdotes.

In 'Cesar: The Story of a Drummer', visitors become part of this evening because they can ask questions or perhaps tell a nice story about Cesar or Golden Earring themselves. It promises to be a unique evening where a piece of Dutch pop history almost literally comes to life. The great successes, the difficult moments, his life, Cesar's solo work, musical project Sloper and the end of the Golden Earring. It's all wrapped up in this performance.

“Radar Love is the drum part that every world drummer would have wanted to come up with himself.”

“The compelling, honest story of a drummer from The Hague who achieves world fame, written by the best drummer for the job” - Leo Blokhuis

Cesar Zuiderwijk

When Cesar Zuiderwijk joined Golden Earring in 1970, the Netherlands suddenly had its own drumming hero. His fantastic and unorthodox playing, his charisma and his sometimes gymnastic madness quickly made him an eye-catcher. Golden Earring became the biggest band in the Netherlands. In the 1980s, Cesar launched the musical project Labyrinth and opened his own drum school. In 1992 he managed to get 1000 drummers to play on the Maas in Rotterdam. He also entered the theater with his own program. Cesar also managed to bring no fewer than 2000 drummers to the beach of Scheveningen in 2018 for Live On The Beach. The Earring came to an abrupt end in 2021 due to the illness of guitarist George Kooymans. But with the band Sloper, as a jury member of the extremely popular television program The Tribute: Battle of the Bands and a new theater tour, the drumming legend's agenda remains packed.

Jean-Paul Heck

Jean-Paul Heck has been a music journalist for over 35 years at De Telegraaf, OOR and HUMO, among others. He is also editor-in-chief of Classic Rock Magazine. Heck previously released the books Fuck You Very Much, Soundz and Crazy Rock & Roll Stories. He interviewed the greats such as David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Bruno Mars, The Who, Led Zeppelin and many others. Heck was the first winner of the Jip Golsteijn Journalism Prize. He is also the drummer in the well-known Queen Tribute band Crazy Little Things.
