Def Americans Johnny Cash Tribute
In 2024, thirty years after the appearance of the first American Recordings, Def Americans Johnny Cash Tribute brings the most appealing songs from this iconic series to the stage.
Singer Elco Weitering: “The American Recordings caused a revaluation for artists who can and dare to perform their own work and that of others in a fragile acoustic version. But it must be authentic, honest and sincere, otherwise it will not work. From the gut, as Johnny would say. "
The songs that The Man managed to bring in Black with so much love and conviction by Def Americans Johnny Cash Tribute revived on stage. The band De Swing, atmosphere and rebellion of a performance by the legendary American Outlaw is amazingly good.
The heyday of the 1970s were now far behind him, when with the appearance of the American Recordings, the cash hit in oblivion became a relevant artist in one fell swoop. The collection of soberly executed acoustic songs is therefore seen as the crown on his work under the leadership of producer Rick Rubin. The friendship and cooperation between Rubin and Cash would last until the death of Johnny in 2003.
