A magical family show full of confusion, surprise and connection that tells a moving story about loneliness and connection, talking and listening, about how we really are doing.
Arend lives in a telephone exchange. Day and night he connects hundreds of callers and everything runs smoothly. He feels at home in this jumble of buttons and cables; Errors are not made. No, making mistakes ... Arend thinks that is the most horrible thing there is. He takes his work seriously. Because what would happen if people were wrongly connected? That would be straightforward.
But then, one night, his own phone suddenly rings. A mysterious caller tells him that he has to connect himself. But ... with whom? And why? And how? Tuut ... tuut ... tuut ... what now? And why did that voice sound so terribly familiar?
The show was developed at Theater Sonnevanck in collaboration with Oyfo Techniekmuseum in Hengelo, where the performance matches the Museum Zone Connectedness, and is inspired by the actual operating telephone exchange in the collection.
