In 1976, almost fifty years ago, they first appeared on stage, the RK Veulpoepers BV. They played their active Dutch folk at demonstrations, village squares, youth centers and festivals. In 2026 they will celebrate this anniversary as Veulpoopers 3.0, with founder and singer Zjef Naaijkens and with numerous professional musicians and special activities.

They are legendary in Brabant and far beyond, the RK Veulpoepers BV. They were against everything, in their own absurdist way, against apartheid, nuclear energy and housing shortage. Now they are back on stage as Veulpoopers 3.0, because in these times of political headwinds we could use some happiness and conviviality again.

Against the acid

They are once again against: against the right-wing populist acid from The Hague and in society. Against making each other's lives miserable, against the fact that minorities have to suffer again, against sour faces of jealous frustrated people. That literally makes them feel bad themselves. And they are also in favor of: enjoying and dancing together for a better world! Before everyone participates, equal pay, a pleasant atmosphere. They do this of course with the success songs that everyone knows, such as 'Den Egelantier' and 'Twee Emmertjes Water Halen'. Sometimes already 50 years old, but still terribly current. There is also brand new material in which Naaijkens comments with a sharp pen on abuses in the world: privacy problems, rudeness, exploitation and climate change.

Musicians

Naaijkens is still left of the old line-up of the anarchotruppe from the south, supported by the original singer Lizet van Beek. She is flanked by Desiree van de Hout or Louise Donker. Piet Maas plays on bass, drums come from Pascal Vermeer, David Cornelissen plays mandolin and whistles. Bart de Win or Jonas Hörmann plays on keys and Harry Hendriks and Frank van Osch on various strings. Most solos come from Herman van Haaren (violin) and Henk Koekkoek (saxes). And everyone sings along too! The sound technology is in the hands of Peter-Paul van Hest.
