A plastic state of mind - Het Nationale Theater | Gavin-Viano
In a plastic state of mind you follow four teenage girls and a woman who were imprisoned by rebel leaders during the Second Liberian War. The girls live under horrible circumstances and are forced to grow up way too quickly. When they see an opportunity to escape the gloomy reality of life in the army camp, they have to choose: do they stay in the world full of trauma and violence in which they grew up? Or do they flee and do they embrace a brand new future?
“ I came into contact with eclipseed for the first time in 2020 and it touched me deeply. Since then, only more hot spots have been added to the world. This results in even less media attention for African wars and their survivors. And also for the people who have been able to flee their situation and are now part of our society. That is why a plastic state of mind is still urgent in my opinion. It grabs you by the throat, it is humorous and vulnerable, but hopefully it is also an eye -opener. It shows that sister love and humanity are the necessary ingredients to get closer to each other. ” - (director Gavin -Viano)
