ADEM - Hannah van Vliet, Ali Zijlstra, Leendert de Ridder e.a.
Experience a multi-vocal theater piece that brings to life the inner world of a young adult with suicidal thoughts. Multiple actors together portray the thoughts, emotions and conflicts of one person, creating a layered mental landscape in which voices complement, contradict and question each other.
The performance interweaves play, music, poetry and silence into a vulnerable but accessible theatrical experience. Despite the heaviness of the theme, ADEM remains fresh and light, with room for recognizability and humor. It is precisely that balance that makes it possible to get close without being overwhelming.
ADEMis not just a story about suicide; The piece does not judge, but connects and creates a safe space for recognition, conversation and hope.
With ADEM we want to break the silence about suicide. The performance arose from the personal experience of the writer, who has struggled with suicidal thoughts. That vulnerability is the core: not to shock, but to connect. We notice that many young people feel alone in their struggles. By using theater as a safe space for recognition, conversation and hope, we want to contribute to awareness and prevention.
This story needs to be told, especially now, because the silence about suicide still prevails and the conversation is urgently needed.
