In ARENDS, the Poezieboys and punk-poetic theatre group ECHO welcome you to a stingy, scrawny, self-sabotaging, yet also playful and humorous evening about the poet Jan Arends. Together they create a show full of poetry, personal stories, tirades of abuse, late-night phone calls and absurd fantasy worlds.

Jan Arends was one of the most uncompromising voices in Dutch literature. In his sparse, razor-sharp poems he wrote about loneliness, mental suffering and the feeling of not belonging anywhere. Arends was not an easy man: sharp, unpredictable and difficult, but behind his anger and helplessness there was also a deeply wounded human being.

With poetry, stories and theatrical outbursts, Anna Schoen, Joep Hendrikx and Jos Nargy dive into his work and his world.
