BEGIN AGAIN - BrotherTill & Lisa Weeda

Dans & ballet

At a time when the usefulness of humans is under discussion, a mother advocates a world without ego. Her son stubbornly clings to a world with ego.

In the sensory, musical performance BEGIN AGAIN, the maker and writer investigate how we can let go of something essential in order to move on. Can we leave behind entrenched hierarchies and place the ecological perspective above humanity?

The mother, activist and inventor, found an omniscient stone deep in the earth. According to her, this stone is the last guide humans need to reconnect with nature. Her son is a sculptor, raised among these stones and with a mother who was rarely present. While she sees a new world before her, he continues to hold on to his image of humanity.

Everyone receives a stone upon entry. What follows is a dazzling farewell: a mix of hypertechnology, compelling music and an intensely human experience. The room is buzzing. The stones sing: free us, the end of man must begin.

BEGIN AGAIN is the second part of the human-technology trilogy by BrotherTill and Lisa Weeda: a long-term investigation into the relationship between humans and technology. The first part, DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION, earned them the Designer Prize at the Dutch Theater Festival and a nomination for a Golden Calf.
