At a time when the usefulness of humans is being called into question, a mother argues for a world without ego. Her son clings stubbornly to a world with ego.

In the sensory, musical show BEGIN AGAIN, director and writer explore how we can let go of something fundamental in order to move on. Can we leave entrenched hierarchies behind and place the ecological perspective above humankind?

The mother, an activist and inventor, discovered an all-knowing stone deep in the earth. In her view, this stone is the last guide humanity needs to reconnect with nature. Her son is a sculptor, who grew up among these stones with a mother who was rarely there. While she envisions a new world, he holds on to his view of humanity.

On arrival, everyone is given a stone. What follows is a whirlwind farewell: a mix of hyper-technology, rousing music and an intensely human experience. The auditorium hums. The stones sing: set us free, the end of humankind must begin.

BEGIN AGAIN is the second part of the human-technology trilogy by BrotherTill and Lisa Weeda: a long-running investigation into the relationship between humans and technology. The first part, DANS DANS REVOLUTIE, won them the Design Award at the Nederlands Theater Festival, as well as a nomination for a Gouden Kalf.
