Danslab 3 - Dansgezelschap Sally

DANSLAB 3 offers the ultimate chance to get to know the latest generation of makers in contemporary dance. In this brand-new show, exciting choreographies follow one another at breakneck speed. From the breathtaking dance of Sellam El Achari and the compelling work of Anne Suurendonk to the brotherly collaboration of Justin de Jager & Sem Deliveyne, and work by Thibault Desaules. Before their work takes the stage, the makers introduce themselves and their work to you – on video. 

DANSLAB is an initiative of SALLY and talent development organisation Via Zuid. It is the leading platform for experiment and innovation in contemporary dance in the south of the Netherlands. In the ‘lab’, new makers are given room to experiment with dance styles, modern interpretations, challenging themes and unexpected combinations. They present the results of this adventurous, exciting research in a grand finale in the theatre. So visitors to DANSLAB are the first to see the latest choreographies by new up-and-coming talent.

Today’s top talent
DANSLAB 3 presents four makers, each of whom holds a unique position in the Dutch dance scene. The young dancer/choreographer Sellam El Achari (FR) made an impression at DANSLAB 2 with his solo Memories and in 2023 was nominated as a dancer for a Jonge Zwaan for the most impressive dance performance in youth dance. The duo Justin de Jager (NL) and Sem Deliveyne (BE) won the SALLY Partner Award at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) 2025 for their piece Brothers. The two are creating a brand-new work especially for DANSLAB 3. Anne Suurendonk (NL) is another striking maker. She won the Innovation Prize at the Nederlandse Dansdagen Maastricht 2024 for her work, which explores what connects people and makes emotions powerfully visible. Finally, you will see work by Thibault Desaules (CH).

TURNING THE AUDITORIUM UPSIDE DOWN
The audience is part of DANSLAB too. Every show ends with the interactive ‘choreography experiment’, which challenges the audience to create a choreography together. You’re given the necessary ingredients beforehand; then it’s your move! In this way, DANSLAB 3 gets everyone moving and turns the auditorium upside down.
