The Hague, the Torentje, the Prime Minister’s office. Trust in politics has long since sunk to a historic low and the Netherlands has plummeted dangerously far down the World Happiness Index. The brand-new prime minister and her spin doctor are working on a plan to win back that trust. A Ministry of Trust has even been set up.

Then the State Secretary bursts in. The whole of the Netherlands is on its way to the seat of government. Outside, a seething crowd is rattling the gates of the Binnenhof. Any form of repression would only pour petrol on the fire, so all that remains is the ultimate speech.

While an ever-growing mass of angry citizens threatens to storm the Binnenhof, a small team under intense pressure tries to find the right words to save the country.

DE BESTORMING is a gripping and comic Binnenhof drama, inspired by recent political and social developments at home and abroad. The power of words is at its heart. What influence does what we say have on what we do and think? At best, words can inspire; at worst, they can inflame. But what do you do when words fall short?
