Deadlift الحَمّالون - Al Harah Theater, Boy Jonkergouw Producties en Riksteatern
Murkus is inspired by a painting by the Palestinian artist Suleiman Mansour, Jamal Al Mahamel, on which a man wears an entire city (Jerusalem) on his back. In deadlift Murkus investigates how much a person can wear. Where is the breaking point? When does the fight against destruction turn into an act of destruction? With a Palestinian cast, deadlift brings a poetic tribute to the resilience of people in need. The music was composed in Palestine by Wouter de Belder.
Al-Harah is committed to building and maintaining a society in which human rights, democracy and freedom of expression are central. Boy Jonkergouw productions creates, produces and presents cultural expressions and educational programs aimed at human rights and social justice.
