Murkus is inspired by a painting by the Palestinian artist Suleiman Mansour, Jamal Al Mahamel, on which a man wears an entire city (Jerusalem) on his back. In deadlift Murkus investigates how much a person can wear. Where is the breaking point? When does the fight against destruction turn into an act of destruction? With a Palestinian cast, deadlift brings a poetic tribute to the resilience of people in need. The music was composed in Palestine by Wouter de Belder.
