FOXTROT - William Spaaij, Renée de Gruijl e.a.
Foxtrotis set in the turbulent 1930s.
A time of carefree fun, but also of worries about the threat of war and an economic crisis.
The story begins when naive Josien leaves the province and ends up in an artists' guest house in Amsterdam.
There she meets Jules and Lisette: revue stars in a nightclub on the bustling Rembrandtplein.
Pension owner Mathilde lets Jules and Lisette pretend to be a German teacher and opera singer.
Josien is taught by Jules and soon falls head over heels in love with him, but he cannot reciprocate that love.
When Paul - Jules' secret love - then shares a bed with Josien, this results in a pregnancy and making impossible choices.
The now 80-year-old Gerrie van der Klei can again be seen in the musical after 49 years.
She plays boarding house owner Mathilde alternately with Marjolijn Touw.
Her role from then is now played by Renée de Gruijl.
William Spaaij plays the demanding male lead, taking over from Willem Nijholt and Paul de Leeuw.
The young talent Teuntje Post follows in the footsteps of Carice van Houten with the role of Josien.
