Integratieplan #2: Alles is Perspectief - Saman Amini

Cabaret

What happens if you grow up in an AZC, where you get to know the perspective of people from the half world, from Eastern Europe to West Africa? When you grow up with a social assistance family in a Brabant farming village and work yourself up into the cultural elite in the big city? It provides you with a hyper-diverse circle of friends: from gay to homophobic, from feminist to sexist, from anarchist to journalist, from ex-criminal to former minister, from pro-refugee to former refugee who became anti-refugee. Everywhere you hear hard truths for which there is no room in the mainstream media.

In Everything is perspective Saman takes the audience along pain points that the Netherlands now splits: fascism, racism, inequality, homophobia, LGBTQIA+ rights, the wok culture and the role of the media in this polarization. However, Saman does not do that from behind a safe wall of opinions: he digs, investigates, talks to the people around him and crawls into the skin of the other - no matter how uncomfortable that is. Not to condemn, but to understand.

Everything is perspective is not a performance where you sink in your theater chair. This is Cabaret that sands, stings and invites you to re -determine your position. But always with humor. Always with love. Always with the realization that the perspective of the other - no matter how cuts it looks - comes from a source that is closer than you think.

“Maybe our pain is not in what is being done to us, but in the idea that nobody understands us." - Saman Amini
