On July 6, 1942, Otto and Edith Frank, together with their daughters Margot (16) and Anne (13), went into hiding in the storage spaces behind the office building of Otto's company at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. The Van Pels couple (called 'Van Daan' by Anne in her diaries) and their son Peter soon joined them, later followed by dentist Fritz Pfeffer (Albert Dussel). The eight people in hiding stayed in their hiding place - which Anne renamed 'the Secret Annex' - until their discovery on August 4, 1944.

The performance You, Anne tells what happened in the Secret Annex during these two years. The many difficult moments, the tension and uncertainties, but also the mutual warmth and moments of hope are highlighted. The focus is on Anne's personal story and the diaries in which she wrote it down. They provide an intimate glimpse into the feelings, developments and insecurities of the young girl who always managed to remain optimistic despite everything. She always signed the stories in her diaries with 'You, Anne'.

Unlike in previous stories, films and plays, Je, Anne tells the actual story of the people in hiding in the Secret Annex without it being dramatized, supplemented or adapted in any way.

The media about Je, Anne
"Je, Anne" remains close to the spirit of the diary in which the Holocaust constantly hangs above the stage, but it is mainly about Anne Frank's caged zest for life."
