We see the journey that young Jeffrey makes after his hepatitis C diagnosis in 1999. At the same time, we dive behind the scenes at the pharmaceutical company on the basis of interviews that holds the healing but expensive medicine. Key figures from the chain of medicine development come by: from idealistic laborant to the shrewd investor. Parallel, the love story between Jeffrey and his partner Max unfolds, in a period in which Jeffrey is getting sicker. When the medicine appears on the Dutch market in 2014, there will be a major social discussion about the prize. How much can a lifetime cost? Who will pay for that? And does this medicine end up with Jeffrey on time?
