Monday - Arno Schuitemaker
The dance between Eros and Thanatos is a timeless dialogue.
A constant interplay between love and decay, harmony and chaos, peace and war, construction and destruction.
In a world reeling from geopolitical tensions and humanitarian crises, that ancient dance is unfolding before our eyes.
How do we find our way in this and are we able to turn the tide?
Monday opts for a radical reversal.
The performance takes place backwards.
It is precisely by rewinding events that our understanding of them can change dramatically.
Four dancers perform their movements backwards and rebuild the set, gradually creating a hypnotic quality.
The music, inspired by the Song of Seikilos, the oldest completely surviving musical composition in the world, gives the performance a propulsive force.
This reconstruction is not about nostalgia.
It becomes a physical metaphor for how we can rebuild, together and with care.
Often dismissed as just another day or as a return to routine, Monday here becomes a day that no one forgets.
