The missing door
Situated in an ominous, domestic space that slowly deforms, the boundaries between reality and illusion become blurred. Everyday actions transform into oppressive situations, where the emotional cracks in the characters become increasingly larger. Carrizo shares:“The work shows a no man's land where reality and fantasy become increasingly intertwined. A place where the last minutes of a life become visible, floating between life and death.”

After the successful revival of audience favorite Clowns (2016) in 2024, choreographer Hofesh Shechter is once again with us for a raw and daring world premiere. Shechter is known for works that expose what lies dormant beneath the surface, both within ourselves and the world around us. The friction between identity, the perception of our mind and our body is often a common thread. In his new work for NDT 1, dream-like scenes unfold next to sudden fragments of reality, in which the dancers test their physical limits. “Your mind is a flickering light that has forgotten its source, where thoughts collide and contradict each other,” says Shechter. Grand and at the same time intimate, full of intense physical surrender and pulsating music, this work promises to be a surreal journey that will completely captivate you.
