Five leading artists, each with their own footsteps in African music, are put in the spotlight: Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie, Bushi Mlongo, Hugh Masekela and the duo Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya.

Miriam Makeba has brought the music of South Africa to the spot of international music arena in an inimitable way. But apart from Mama Africa, a number of thorough South African heavyweights have left their mark on cultural life.
