How can we continue to grow economically without over-exploiting our planet? How can we absorb the costs of an aging population? What are the consequences of climate change and inequality of opportunity on our economy? How is there enough money left over for things like education and healthcare? Should we consume less? Is economic growth the cure? In this theater lecture you will get answers to these questions.

Does money buy happiness? The most determining factor for happiness is not money or income, but the feeling of having control over your life. Research has shown that the extent to which someone feels in control of his or her life is seven and a half times more important for a person's well-being than income. Having access to good education, job security, healthcare and the housing market all determine the extent to which someone has control over his/her own life. Barbara Baarsma calls this 'opportunity power'.

  • You can ask questions after the break
  • After the theater lecture there is a Meet & Greet with Barbara
