Trompettist in Auschwitz - Thomas Cammaert en Soy Kroon
Lex van Weren is born in 1920 and grows up in Amsterdam. He teaches himself playing on the trumpet. If in the Second World War the entire family of Weren is arrested and put on transport to Auschwitz extermination camp, it is precisely the trumpet that saves him life. As the only one of the family, as a member of the Kamporkest, he knows how to survive the terrible time in the camp as a prisoner 16848. In 1980, after years of silence, writer Dick Walda took him to tell his story. That shocking and emotional story is the heart of this intimate production.
Actors Thomas Cammaert and Soy Kroon Tell and play in a direction of Eddy Habbema The special and moving story of Lex van Weren, the trumpet player in Auschwitz. The book by Dick Walda is edited by Allard Blom into theater text. On the occasion of 80 years of commemoration and liberation, Soy Kroon and Thomas Cammaert can be seen one more time in this acclaimed show.
