Ensemble 4 Seasons
The evening is made up of two concert halves. Before the interval, Vivaldi's masterpiece The Four Seasons is performed, with Emmy Storms as soloist. This interpretation goes further than the performances of this iconic work you may already know.
After the interval, the ensemble undergoes a complete transformation: the harpsichord makes way for a grand piano, and bandoneon player Matias Pedrana (Argentina) brings fiery Argentinian passion to the stage. The second half features Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, in which the sounds of Argentinian tango are virtuosically woven together with classical elements. Christiaan van Hemert enriches the performance with fascinating commentary and humorous anecdotes, giving you a deeper understanding of both interpretations of The Four Seasons.
The evening closes with several other masterpieces by Astor Piazzolla.
