Karen Carpenter, famous for her beautiful warm voice, formed the duo the Carpenters with her brother Richard in the ’70s. Songs such as Close to you, We’ve only just begun and Top of the world brought them enormous success. But that success had a dark side. More than 43 years ago, at just 32 years old, Karen lost her life to the effects of anorexia. This season Judith Koch, now 43 herself and accompanied by talented musicians, brings the beautiful melodies of the Carpenters to life, and for a while it’s Yesterday once more. When Judith sings and you close your eyes, you hear Karen Carpenter.
Judith also tells Karen’s story. A story that is still relevant today. Because how can you truly be yourself under the pressure of expectations from your family, your fans, the press and (these days) social media? It promises to be an intimate, atmospheric evening full of heartfelt songs and remarkable stories.
