Sometimes, when he is still awake in his bed, he sometimes gets scared. He hears his parents talking down the news on TV or about arguments at work. Because he doesn't understand it all, he starts to tie these stories together with his unrestrained fantasy into great invincible monsters, who want to penetrate his world.

Kees has closed his door, his pilot helmet - at least he calls it set up, his favorite book for itself and, to be sure, the TV turned on to suppress scary sounds. So entrenched in his room it is safe, right?

But his imagination never stops. Outside the wind rolls a mars rhythm against the windows, the TV suddenly starts talking to Kees and then his sink runs over and his room turns into a swirling river. Now that even his room no longer seems to be safe, Kees can do nothing but to go out and to defy his fears on his adventure ...
