Leo en Marius Blokhuis
In this show Leo Blokhuis delves into the phenomenon of fathers and sons in pop music. Cat Stevens wrote the famous song about father and son and the generation gap, while Peter Gabriel wrote a moving song about a father and son who support each other. Along the way we meet well-known and lesser-known musical fathers and sons, such as Tim and Jeff Buckley, Jim and AJ Croce, Johnny and Shuggie Otis, Alfred, John, Julian and Sean Lennon, and George (Tornados) and Matt (Muse) Bellamy.
Are they alike, do they get anything from each other, is the relationship a blessing or a curse? Does the son stand in the shadow of his famous father, or does he outshine him? And how do they influence each other?
And who better to explore this subject with than his own son Marius, a terrific guitarist who graduated from the conservatoire in 2025. Leo’s infectious stories are illustrated by Marius’ beautifully played live songs and topped up with music clips from Leo’s trusty laptop.
