In November 2000, Ruud and Riem de Wolff last for the last thing as The Blue Diamonds. Ruud is already seriously ill. On December 18, 2000, he dies at the age of 59. After his death, Riem ends up in a deep valley. With the help of fellow artists such as Rob de Nijs, Mariska Veres, Oscar Harris and George Baker, he finds the power to get up. With them and together with his son Steffen, he made the album "Out of the Blue" produced by Patrick Drabe in 2001 under the name The New Diamonds. After releasing this album, Riem is on stage together with Steffen and Patrick Drabe as The New Diamonds and also acts solo as a belt 'Blue Diamond' de Wolff until his death on September 12, 2017.

The TheWhen the organizer of these concerts, years later, asks Patrick and Steffen to bring a musical tribute to The Blue Diamonds once again in February 2023, they don't have to think long about it. Following the many positive reactions and offers that follow, Patrick and Steffen decide to breathe new life into The New Diamonds. Instead of a one -off performance, the musical tribute in De Doelen appears to be a new start of The New Diamonds and a tour of Dutch theaters.
