Leonieke Baerwaldt (1985) studied philosophy and literature. In 2018, she won the Great Lowlands Writing Contest. You can read her short stories at, among other things, Hard//headandPaper Heroessucces.Kluger Hans, The Auditor and The Guide.

 Her debut novel 'This is where we come from' (Querido 2021) was on the longlist for both the Libris Literature Prize and the Boekenbon Literature Prize. Her latest novel'Days like strange symptoms'(Querido 2024) was also on the Longlist of the Libris Literature Prize and won the BNG Bank Literature Prize. The novel shows with sober power the love, exhaustion and loneliness of a mother who takes care of her multiple limited child. In September 2025,'What does not perish', the Brabant Book Present. For this, she investigates the story of an herbalist who is unmasked as a fraud on television in the late 1960s.
