Introducing as many children as possible to theater and giving them a fantastic experience. With this in mind, the Wonka Podia organize an annual school tour for children in grades 5 and 6. In all Wonka theaters or on the schoolyard of the participating elementary school themselves. A wonderful collaboration between the theaters, elementary school from the Wonka municipalities and involved culture coaches. This year ‘Performance in which hopefully nothing happens’ by Theater Artemis from Den Bosch will be performed.
In the five municipalities, dozens of elementary school and thousands of pupils will visit the five Wonka theaters in May and June: the Parktheater, Het Speelhuis, De Schalm, De Hofnar and Kattendans. In preparation, teachers will be sent a lesson plan to do assignments in the classroom beforehand. Theater Artemis from Den Bosch has especially for Wonka Podia revived the ‘Performance in which hopefully nothing happens’ to play for these elementary school students.
Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt
We promise you nothing, but do we deliver? Performance in which hopefully nothing happens is most like a castle in the sky; nothing and everything at the same time. Bored with a moment that stumbles, a detail that gets overlooked and the next moment that doesn’t. Monty Python for kids, with a performer not allowed on and a doorman desperately searching for himself. Sleep tight!
Youth theater classic Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt (from 2005) is Jetse Batelaan’s first youth direction. The show won the very first Golden Cricket and became a huge success from Europe to the United States, Canada and back again! Enjoy this declaration of love to physical, visual and disruptive theater.
