The domed church shrouded in glass
From its first performance in 2013, this special location has been embraced by visitors and artists as their new theater. The architects Van Dongen and Koschuch have translated this fact into architecture: a glass embrace of the church ensures that it becomes a permanent theater. The transparency of the design symbolizes a theater of today. It shows where we all stand, provides vistas into the future and creates dialogue.

Even though we are immensely proud to make theater in such an iconic building, it’s not just about this beautiful set of bricks. Our team makes Het Speelhuis! With a small club of people, we host more than 160 artists and companies each year, regularly run events with and for corporate clients, and facilitate a dozen local initiatives that make the city live and our region move. This is how we build our future every day. Because we believe that all progress comes from creativity.
