Wonka Podia organizes third school tour with Artemis Den Bosch

Exposing as many children as possible to theater and giving them a fantastic experience. With this in mind, Wonka Podia organizes an annual school tour for children in grades 5 and 6. The performances take place in all Wonka theaters or in the schoolyards of the participating primary schools themselves. It is a wonderful collaboration between the theaters, primary schools in the Wonka municipalities, and the cultural coaches involved. This year, Theater Artemis from Den Bosch will perform “Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt” (A performance in which hopefully nothing happens).

In May and June, dozens of primary schools and thousands of pupils from the five municipalities will visit the five Wonka theaters: the Parktheater, Het Speelhuis, De Schalm, De Hofnar, and Kattendans. In preparation, teachers will receive a lesson plan to do assignments in class beforehand. Theater Artemis from Den Bosch has revived the play ‘Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt’ (The play in which hopefully nothing happens) especially for Wonka Podia to perform for these primary school pupils.

About ‘Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt
We promise you nothing, but will we deliver? A performance in which hopefully nothing happens is most like a castle in the air; nothing and everything at the same time. Bore yourself to death with a moment that stumbles, a detail that is overlooked, and a next moment that never comes. Monty Python for children, with an artist who is not allowed on stage and a doorman who is desperately searching for himself. Sleep well!

Youth theater classic Voorstelling waarin hopelijk niets gebeurt (from 2005) is Jetse Batelaans’ first youth production. The show won the very first Gouden Krekel award and became a huge success from Europe to the United States, Canada, and back again! Enjoy this declaration of love for physical, visual, and disruptive theater.
