Esther van der Voort
In a painfully funny way, comedienne Esther van der Voort (also a single mum and former civil servant) discovered what really matters in life. But did Esther always make the right choices herself, or did she act on pure emotion? As a single mother, daily life is an emotional rollercoaster. With four children, the deluge of questions never stops. Mum, where’s my hockey stick? What time is it? What’s for tea?
How on earth did she end up in this situation? Sometimes life seems like one long chain of choices never made, but mum has plenty of questions of her own. Why did she get married? Where did that dog come from? What is she supposed to do with this job? Why did she say “OK, let’s have one more,” when choosing a sofa can sometimes take two years?
Every now and then it all gets too much for Esther, and then you’d better run for cover, because mum is cross. Cross with her kids, cross with her ex, cross with the girl on the till, cross with her satnav, cross with her boss – but most of all: cross with herself.
