Esther van der Voort
In a painfully funny way, comedienne Esther van der Voort (also a single mum and former civil servant) discovered what really matters in life. But did Esther herself always make the right choices, or did she act purely on emotion? As a single mother, daily life is an emotional rollercoaster. With four children, that torrent of questions goes on all day long. Mum, where’s my hockey stick? What time is it? What’s for dinner?
How on earth did she end up in this situation? Sometimes life seems like a string of choices never actually made, but Mum has all sorts of questions of her own too. Why did she get married? Where did that dog come from? What is she supposed to do with this job? Why did she say “Okay, let’s have one more,” when choosing a sofa can sometimes take two years?
Now and then it all gets too much for Esther, and then you’d better take cover, because Mum is angry.
Angry at her kids, angry at her ex, angry at the girl on the till, angry at her satnav, angry at her boss – but above all: angry at herself.
