Freek de Jonge
With “We Knew Much” Freek de Jonge brings the fourth part of his memoirs to life on stage. In this special theater performance he looks back on the years 1969–1980: a period in which everything began for him and took a decisive turn. It is the time of the meeting with Hella, the rise and dissolution of Neerlands Hoop, and the exciting start of a solo career with De Komiek. Years of experiment, commitment and doubt - but also of success and stage enthusiasm.
He still connects personal memories with the spirit of the times of then and now in his own unique way. What seemed obvious turns out to be a complicated story. We Knew Much is therefore not a retrospective full of certainties, but a search for what really happened.
This performance is more than a supplement to the book: it is its own story, in which text and play reinforce each other. Light-footed where possible, sharp where necessary, and always personal.
A unique opportunity to experience a decisive period in De Jonge's life up close - on stage, where it all began.
