Simone Honijk Kwintet
'See with your ears, hear with your eyes' is the guiding principle of A Touch of Cinema and Jazz, the album with which singer Simone Honijk pays a musical tribute to film composer Johnny Mandel (1925–2020). In an intimate setting, Honijk lets the melancholy and refinement of post-war jazz sparkle. With her warm, expressive voice she takes the audience into a world of nostalgia, cinematic atmosphere and subtle emotion. The music exudes elegance and convincingly refers to the tradition of legendary crooners, with Frank Sinatra as a source of inspiration.
