Simone Honijk Kwintet
‘See with your ears, hear with your eyes’ is the guiding principle of A Touch of Cinema and Jazz, the album with which singer Simone Honijk pays musical tribute to film composer Johnny Mandel (1925–2020). In an intimate setting, Honijk makes the melancholy and refinement of post-war jazz sparkle. With her warm, expressive voice, she draws the audience into a world of nostalgia, cinematic atmosphere and subtle emotion. The music exudes elegance and convincingly evokes the tradition of the legendary crooners, with Frank Sinatra as its inspiration.
