Piet van Eeghen
The Netherlands celebrates theater during the National Theater Weekend! Young or old, regular or new visitor: everyone is welcome during the Theater Weekend to come and enjoy everything the theater has to offer at a great price. Whether you like music, dance, theater, musical, classical, cabaret or youth theater: the National Theater Weekend is a unique experience for everyone.
Almost out of nowhere, self-taught and mathematics teacher Piet van Eeghen won the audience award at the Leiden Cabaret Festival 2022. De Telegraaf spoke about a wonderful stage personality and praised his virtuoso language and inimitable timing. Theaterkrant was also full of praise: "an all-round performer who is both an excellent lecturer and a gifted musician (guitar and piano), composer and lyricist." If that guy is just as fun in class as he is on stage, his students are to be envied."
In his debut performance 'De Enlightenment Near' the audience gets to know Piet through his absurdist songs and conferences laced with subtle irony. He conquers the audience with his charm, shares his bizarre imaginations with the audience and shamelessly examines his mind in 'Near Enlightenment'.
<.b>About 'Near Enlightenment' wrote:
NRC****: "strong first cabaret performance...an interesting comedian and stage personality...Van Eeghen clearly shows that cabaret is more than talking and making jokes. He's also funny...Annie MG. Worthy of the Schmidt Prize."
de Volkskrant***: "In his first show, Piet van Eeghen manages to entertain the audience until the end with smart and comic songs."
Theaterkrant.nl: "Van Eeghen repeatedly demonstrates his own, dryly funny, original perspective. He is engaging, funny and cuddly... Van Eeghen was once a mathematics teacher... how nice for us that he chose to follow his heart, take the plunge and now be a comedian."
