Set in present-day Tokyo, 'Rental Family' follows an American actor (Brendan Fraser) struggling to find meaning in his life, until he lands an unusual job: working for a Japanese ‘rental family’ agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers.
As he immerses himself ever more deeply in his clients' worlds, he begins to form real bonds that blur the lines between performance and reality. Confronted with the moral complexity of his work, he rediscovers purpose, belonging and the hidden beauty of human connection.
