A story of displacement - Panama Pictures
The search in a Story of Displacement takes place in an inhospitable landscape with rocky sloping surfaces and wavy floor parts that turn out to be elastic. These suspension floor parts break the fall of the performers, distort and weigh their movements and but sometimes let them fly almost - moments of weightlessness form a sharp contrast to slipping, tumbling and grip. In this isolated landscape, other laws of nature seem to apply, creating a new, fascinating movement idiom.
With a Story of Displacement shows Panama Pictures how we relate to our environment and how we treat each other in these disruptive times. Our Language of Dance and Circus shows the power and vulnerability of the seeking person.
The music, a reinterpretation of contemporary techno is specially composed by Strijbos and Van Rijswijk and Davide Bellotta, and performed live by Davide Bellotta (electronics) and a cellist.
"Panama Pictures evokes a world where movement and music don't need words. That creates an exciting search that as a viewer and listener keeps you on the tip of your chair. " (Brabants Dagbad)
