CONTRA - Wabisabi in samenwerking met HIIIT en Het Houten Huis

In a tantalizing mix of dance, text and live music, five dancers, two musicians and a ME bus show a glimpse into the minds and hearts of a number of cops. What does it mean to uphold the law in a world of chaos? How do you stay human in a system that cracks?

Contraexposes the tensions between power and service, ideals and reality. From racism and bureaucracy to the will to make a difference. The performance is based on true stories, obtained through current journalistic research and interviews with those directly involved, with attention to social imperfections.

Around CONTRA there is an in-depth programme in which we look further at the themes from the performance. Prior to the performance, you can choose from two 45-minute programmes. There is room for meeting, reflection and exploring different perspectives.

• 1) Workshop RADAR:Diversity, discrimination and perspective |Kameleon
  In this interactive and accessible meeting, RADAR includes participants in themes. Based on recognizable situations, we investigate how images and assumptions arise, how exclusion is experienced and why different people can experience the same situation very differently. Not a heavy training, but an active way of working that invites you to look at yourself, the other person and society with an open mind.
  
  
  
• 2) Philosophical talk:Strong Selfwith Gertjan van Dokkum | Philips Foyer
  In a small-scale setting for around 30 participants, pedagogue, philosophy teacher and advisor to the National Police Gertjan van Dokkum takes visitors on a stimulating exploration of identity, responsibility and coexistence.
