Two sisters literally and figuratively balance between their shared history and personal differences. With handstands, acro dance and subtle irony, they reflect on their unconventional upbringing in a traveling circus family, in which family rituals provide guidance. Sometimes to the point of obsessiveness. Why do we cling so stubbornly to those habits? And how do we honor the rituals of the people we love, even if we don't fully understand them?

In the physical performance, the sisters search for a shared ritual together. Melody wants peace, tea and a neat table. Lily wants to let loose, looks for energy and movement. While they share the stage together, their worlds collide. How do you stay balanced when the other person moves in a different direction? How do you keep yourself straight if you have to carry something together? To complete the ritual of the performance, they must embrace their differences. The performance thus grows into a new ritual in which they together find meaning in a world that is always in motion.

The media about the Nolanders
It is a fascinating mix of handstand, acrobatics, dance and a witty, non-verbal narrative element: the Nolanders, recognizable as itinerant artists, family members with different paths in life, but also as restless citizens of the world without traditional stability, move away from each other and then continually seek rapprochement or - literally - bump into each other.(Theatrekrant, 2026)
