Café Chantant
The group stands out with atmospheric arrangements for flute, recorder, percussion, accordion and keyboard, giving the music a fuller, more orchestral sound than that of other Dutch chanson groups. The vocals, often in three-part harmony, are a treat for the ears.
Think of songs such as 'Laat me', 'Pastorale', 'Waarom huil je nou' and 'De appels en het tafelsprei'.
The ensemble was founded by keyboardist, accordionist and arranger Arjan Bruinsma, who a few years ago added lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Janneke van Heeswijk and flautist and singer Marjolein Kempen to the band. Since then Café Chantant has built a solid reputation in Dutch theatres and cultural centres, where the trio regularly plays to full houses.
With its warm and intimate style, Café Chantant reaches a broad audience — a concert full of recognition, with laughter and a tear or two.
