Smartphone & Social Media -

Theater en toneel

The evening is a collaboration between Bewust Online, Veldhoven Library, Municipality of Veldhoven, Sondervick College and Theater De Schalm. Together they present a versatile program with practical insights, personal stories and recognizable theater scenes.

Thekla Reuten (actress and co-founder Smartphonevrij Opgroeien Nederland) says: “This team has enormous good energy and ideas to help parents and children postpone until at least 14 and to help them from 16 to consciously choose whether and how they want to deal with socials. All confidence in these three!”

Bewust Online works based on the ideas of Smartphone Free Growing Up in the Netherlands: not anti-technology, but pro-childhood. During this interactive evening, parents and professionals will receive tools to better guide children and young people in the digital world: at home, at school and in everyday life.

The program

1. Conscious Online
Conscious Online opens the evening with practical insights about smartphones, social media and the influence of algorithms on the brain of children and young people. How do you set boundaries without fighting? How do you deal with peer pressure? And how do you keep a healthy balance between screen time and real life? Visitors receive concrete tips and tools to discuss this at home and at school.

2. Het Brokelbrein
Young people from the podcast series Het Brookkelbrein share their personal experiences with an online detox together with podcast maker Judith van Loon. They talk candidly about social media, concentration, performance pressure and the impact of being constantly online. Their honest stories provide a special insight into the online world of young people.

3. Helder Theater
Helder Theater brings recognizable situations surrounding smartphone use and social media to life in humorous and interactive theater scenes. From discussions at the kitchen table to endless scrolling and peer pressure: situations that many parents, young people and professionals recognize every day are made visible in an accessible and theatrical way.

During this evening:

  • Get practical tools and new insights
  • Exchange your experiences with other parents and professionals
  • Experience humorous and recognizable theater scenes
  • Hear real stories from young people about their online detox
  • Discover how you can have a conversation about healthy smartphone use at home and at school

The evening is intended for parents and professionals who want to understand more about the online world of young people and are looking for practical tips and inspiration.  A drink is included.
