Stephanie Struijk
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Stephanie Struijk's debut with her album Away From Here. She was 19 and wrote all those songs herself. It was a diary of sorts, a place where she could make up stories but also describe the whirlwind of feelings that come with the journey from being a teenager to becoming an adult. She performed her songs on stages large and small and she continued to write.
That whirlwind is no longer caused by a restless dreamy teenage brain, but the path to the songs remains the same. “I've been writing songs for longer than I haven't written them.” It is part of her life, it provides stability and tension.
