Ton Engels makes songs. He records them and loves playing them for people. Balance and expressive power are the key ingredients of a good song. A good song grabs hold of the listener and won’t let go. Lyrics, melody, harmony, groove, quality of performance: all these elements need to be properly balanced with one another. Only then does it really work. Ton has written a whole pile of songs like that. Cojboy (Zonger Peard), Tom Dumoulin, Kal Toch Plat, De Nevel, D’n Erste Kersmis, Hallo Veurjaor, Donkere Daag, Welkom Bej De Minse and many more.
Spread across some six albums released since 1995. Lyrics in the dialect of his home village of Panningen. At De Schalm Ton plays together with his friend, the master bassist Eric Coenen.
