Het Sterrehuis

Het Sterrehuis

Theater en toneel

The Sterrehuis is an equally moving and light show about four children looking back on their youth in a children's home. A current story, radically told from the child's perspective.

Meet four star house children: Mea wants nothing more than to go for a foster family, Frenkie is looking for his family, Peet misses his mother and Summer never wants to return home. In a dreamy no man's land, a story of great loneliness and careful friendship blooms in which the imagination is always broken by the harsh reality. A story about the courageous search for security and finding your own place.

Lowland house writer Annet Bremen was inspired by the Heerlen Sterrehuis, exemplary for many children's homes from the 1970s. This prize -winning theater text, based on Bremens research and interviews with former Sterrehuis children and employees, is more topical than ever. Director Silke van Kamp created a penetrating performance with a fantastic cast in 2023 with the International Youth Theater Writing Prize and nominated for the Toneelwriting prize.   De Volkskrant (4 stars): "A funny and playful and grim and moving account of the loyalty of failing parents, the desire for a home and having to audit for foster families."The poetry triggers the imagination and, as a result, the emotions of the reader. This accessible text cuts in your heart. ”

A performance for adults, also suitable for children from 10 years. Specially recommended for experience experts and youth care employees.

45 minutes before the start, an introduction is given by Annette Embrechts, dance and theater journalist for the Volkskrant. For this you can reserve a place free of charge during the ordering process.
